Advice for work accident claims
Keep a dossier about your work claim
Include:
- Detailed signed and dated notes about how your accident at work happened.
- Draw plans of the scene of work accident, take photos of personal injuries, surfaces and any equipment, vehicles or machinery at work relevant to the accident claim.
- Names, addresses and phone numbers of potential witnesses including your employer if appropriate.
- An in depth diary of your symptoms and medical treatment for your personal injury. It is important that there are medical notes on your injury (please visit your GP).
- A log of all events relevant to your accident claim including workdays lost, monies spent Receipts for all expenses.
- Always attend medical appointments – not attending may be interpreted as meaning that your injury was not serious.
- Do not discuss your compensation claim with your GP, because all your medical records will be disclosed to your employer.
