Wills

Preparing a will is probably one of those things that you know you should do but never actually get around to doing. It is very easy to keep postponing this extremely important document, however, it is important to remember that proper planning for the future will ensure that in the event of becoming seriously ill or dying, our most loved ones will at least be taken care off.

The will is probably the most important document you will ever sign, and it is likely that you will need some help in preparing it. It is important to leave a clear and logically binding statement of your wishes. Failure to do so could leave further problems for your family to deal with after death, which will only add to the distress they will already be feeling.

How our Solicitors will advise you

Our specialist solicitors can help you plan for the future. Whatever your intention is for making the will, we can assist you with it. If you are concerned about how your family will be provided for after your death, or you require tax planning advice, we will be able to assist you. We can also advise you on:

  • appointing executors and trustees to deal with your assets
  • what provisions you need to consider for your children
  • the best structure for your will so as to minimise the amount of Inheritance Tax that will be payable on your estate
  • What to do if you hold joint property or have a pension plan that pays death in service benefits

Of course we understand that it is unpleasant to think about what would happen if you suffered a brain injury or some other form of mental injury that left you unable to make important decisions. Perhaps you may want to think about appointing someone to be your attorney under a Lasting Power of Attorney in relation to your property and affairs or personal welfare issues. You will then be rest assured that your matters will be dealt with by people that you trust.

We understand the importance of the will, and will ensure that it is drafted with the utmost care. Our specialist will solicitors will work with you to gain a deeper understanding of your personal circumstances and affairs, and work on your will accordingly bearing that knowledge in mind.

We are fully aware that the sudden death of someone can lead to a series of emotions and conflicted opinions on what happens next. It can also lead to a great deal of uncertainty for any family members involved and raises a few questions. Someone may have been unfairly left out of a will or sometimes it can be unclear how the children will be provided for.

It can be appreciated that this can be a cause for a great deal of anxiety for those involved, and it is extremely difficult to deal with a situation like this by yourself. We can help you deal with these circumstances should they arise.
