From 23 April 2007 claims management companies have been regulated by the newly created Ministry of Justice. Consumers (and solicitors) can check that a company is properly authorised on the MoJ website.

Or by calling 0845 450 6858. The regulation is designed to protect consumers from high pressure selling, stops unauthorised marketing in hospitals, and provides a mechanism for consumer complaints.

Personal Injury Claims Consultation

Whilst the small claims limit should stay unchanged at £1,000, the fast track limit for small personal injury claims should be raised to £25,000. This is the recommendation from the Dept for Constitutional Affairs, in an efort to make the process more efficient. Views are sought on the new system, which is built around early notification of claims, early admission of liability, and the removal of duplicated work from the process.
