Factors affecting your head injury claim
Time Limits for making a head injury claim
For those over the age of eighteen, who have suffered an injury to head, or have suffered resulting brain damage, the period is three years from the date of the accident
For children the three year period begins on the date of their eighteenth birthday
What factors affect my Injury Claim
- Your age at the time of the accident. Younger people with longer to live typically receive larger compensation awards for injuries sustained to their head
- The severity of the injury. Minor cuts and bruises will receive lower compensation amounts compared with brain damage
- The length of time taken to recover from the accident to the head
- Personal Injuries that resolve themselves within weeks will receive less compensation than those that take several years or those that leave the victim with permanent symptoms.
- Whether the injury caused a level of disability or severe lack of mobility. Some personal injuries can result in a permanent level of disability, brain damage
