Beachcroft secure record compensation sum for Manchester United traine
Hextalls today failed to reduce the record compensation order made against its client Middlesbrough Football Club. Ben Collett broke his leg playing in a reserve game for Manchester United against Middlesbrough six years ago. Collett was 18 when the injury occurred and was tipped for a successful career with United.
Middlesbrough admitted liability for the injury but the club had appointed Hextalls to attempt to reduce the amount of compensation awarded by arguing that the original ruling had failed to calculate damages. The Court of Appeal rejected the appeal
This is Hextalls first high profile case since it reincarnation as a limited company following its pre-pack administration in March.
