Accident 'ruined' actor's career

2nd April 2007

An up and coming actor with the Royal Shakespeare Company had his career ruined after an accident where he was knocked off his motorcycle in London left him in a coma. Ken Moore from West Sussex suffered brain damage, spinal cord injuries and post-traumatic stress after the incident and has not worked since the accident, despite having a promising career beforehand.

The other driver involved in the accident was never traced, but Moore was awarded £585,000 from the Motor Insurers Bureau, which compensates victims of uninsured or untraced motorists.

Actor Moore, whose on-screen name is Ken Dudley is now suing the Government for a further £600,000 claiming that a large portion of the original settlement was taken in costs and fees, leaving him with no where near the amount that is normally awarded for those involved in accidents with similar injuries and consequences.

Because the crash however took part in 1995, there is a chance that the additional compensation claim may get thrown out as it has been brought after the legal time limit of 3 years.
